This time has already been added..... U R AMAZING

healthy snack ideas???

I love to read cookbooks!! And I spend a lot of time looking over recipe websites dreaming up my next meal. But I don't cook!! :p I could cook. I like to cook. Well, OK, I do cook. The same meals. Over and over and over and over again. I'm STUCK in between what I know how to do (quick and easy which often amounts to not healthy), what I want to do (healthy, fresh, different), and having time to do it!!!!

I go to the grocery store and READ LABELS and go home with a headache!!

Anyway.

That really has nothing to do with snacks. But in my quest to find healthy foods, I have found several healthy snacks. I figure you may have too. So if you have a few extra minutes when you're posting your time (I know a few extra minutes is a LOT of time. Really. But if you do...) and you have some good healthy snack ideas, will you share one or two! And heck,if you have a great healthy recipe and you love me you can share that too!!! You can share it in your comment or a post or whatever tickles your fancy. :)

Meanwhile, here's one of those websites I was telling you about....

Have I mentioned that you girls are awesome??!!

I'm so happy to have you all as my exercising buddies!

ooo... here's a snack idea from that website I just shared...

"Stir lemon pepper into cottage cheese for a quick and healthy vegetable dip. We like carrots and snow peas, but any crunchy vegetables you have on hand will do."

I do cottage cheese all the time with fruit, but I'm excited to try this twist!

Thanks for the tips, since Christmas my snacking has been very unhealthy. Its time to get back on track. And last week I did 1 hour and 15 minutes of exercise. Here's to a new week and healthy changes!

Monday = 55 minutes (YBB, walk, sit ups and chutarungas(sp?)

Healthy snack idea = my kids and I love to make smoothies for a healthy treat. One of our favorites = 12 ice cubes, 6 strawberries, 1 banana or 1/2 if you don't want a whole, 4 oz. of orange juice (not from concentrate), and a couple of dashes (probably 2 oz.) of vanilla almond milk. If you want it sweeter use honey, stevia or blue agave to sweeten it a bit. This amount is almost a blender full, which serves my kids and I...so adjust the amounts to servings you would like:) (change ingredients to your liking:)

Also another one of our favorites is to spread peanut butter on graham crackers and dip it in almond milk. The first time I saw it, I thought it was really weird but it's delicious.

P.s. Almond milk fact: Sweetened Vanilla Almond milk = 90 calories per 8 oz serving (40 calories if you don't get the sweetened but I prefer the sweetened), compared to 110 calories per 8 oz. of 1% low fat dairy milk.
Lengthy post, sorry :/ Hope somebody could use some of it:)

Carson woke up this morning at 6am, got dressed, got his lunch and backpack ready, brushed his teeth and was ready by 6:30 :) So the kids rode their bikes, while Tressa and I ran to Safeway to get bagels and bananas for breakfast. Then we ran Carson to school... and if you were at the 3 way stop while I was yelling to my kids to "STOP AND WAIT FOR ME!!!" and unsure whether you should go or wait for the kids on their bikes, I am so sorry and so embarrassed... anyway by the time I was done running around the neighborhood with my kids, I got at least 40 minutes in. Then I did 20 minutes of Yoga.

*** 1 hour in all***

Another snack idea
Mix plain yogurt with honey, walnuts, and some fruit... I actually use elderberry juice, but I got it from my father-in-law and I'm not sure where to tell you to find it....

I think my post is longer than your post, Lexi!!! Thanks for the snack ideas. :)

I am leaving hours for the end of last week and a half. Not much because I have been sick, but I managed a little bit. I have done a little Yoga, Pilates, riding bikes to school, running to pick kids up from school, and a fabulous hike/yoga experience in Sedona! If anyone wants to go hiking, lets take a early Saturday morning and go...it does not have to be as far as Sedona!
